Inherent Nature to Care

As an offering to their loving teacher, this group of individuals from Haribol Green Earth Philippines went to the latest victim of Mother Nature’s wrath: Barangay Tunasan, Muntinlupa City Philippines. Heavy Rains flooded this residential area and the flood was not even caused by usual and natural reason, which is usually the direct effect of typhoon rain. This time the people were caught unprepared; because this time, there was neither typhoon signal nor typhoon warning, and the enormous outpour was brought about by supposedly harmless south monsoon wind.

According to this group of earth savers, they are at war; and their battlefield is the place where people are submerging in a flood; “We are here because of our hearts that speak to us and not because of any other outward reasons,” Boying Morales, the leader of the group concluded.

Armed with faith, eagerness to help others, and with enormous amount of cooked noodles; the group went to the devastated area; and as you can see they are greeted with longing and warm welcome. What is a bowl of noodle soup to this people?  At any given normal day, and without the effect of nature’s devastation, probably it would mean nothing to some or maybe to most of them. But unlike today, a bowl of cooked noodles appeared to be so sweet and so important as if it is a bowl of life. But was it really the bowl of noodle soup, or was it actually the act of giving, which is deeply felt in time of need?

Because of uncontrolled lust, we are reaping the bitter fruits of Mother Nature’s anger; but at the same time, because of our inherent nature as children of loving God, some people rise and use the unfortunate incident to showcase their compassion and their ability to give and to love.

There is no substitute to inner happiness, as some and real happiness is felt and invisible to material eye. We clearly see the happiness of the recipients but we hardly see the joy of the giver. We urge everyone to become givers to understand and experience that joy. Lets help them help others, Haribol!
